Fee Schedule
Overview
StudioLedger operates on radical fee transparency. We publish all fees upfront — there are no hidden charges, no surprise deductions, and no fine print. Our model is built on XRPL's native settlement layer, which means lower operational costs and lower fees for you.
Our philosophy: At 0.98% per escrow release, nobody leaves to avoid fees. Escrow protection is why creators and marketplaces stay. The protection IS the product.
StudioLedger Fees
1. Escrow Release Fee — 0.98%
When applied: Deducted from the released amount when an escrow is completed (EscrowFinish)
Who pays: Creator (deducted from the payment received)
Example: A marketplace commits 10,000 RLUSD to a creator's milestone escrow. When the creator submits the deliverable and the marketplace approves it, the escrow releases. StudioLedger deducts 99.50 RLUSD (0.98%) as the platform fee. Creator receives 9,900.50 RLUSD.
Why this fee exists: Covers contract facilitation, on-chain transaction costs, dispute infrastructure, MCC minting, webhook listeners, and community arbitration panel management.
2. Asset Sale Fee — 0.98%
When applied: Deducted from the sale price when an asset sells on the Creator Storefront / Asset Marketplace (Phase 2–3)
Who pays: Creator (deducted from the sale proceeds)
Example: A designer lists a UI kit for 500 RLUSD. A buyer purchases it. StudioLedger deducts 4.925 RLUSD (0.98%) as the platform fee. Designer receives 495.075 RLUSD instantly.
Note: Asset sales use direct XRPL Payment transactions (no escrow, instant delivery). License MCCs (Taxon 2) are auto-minted on purchase to prove the buyer has legitimate usage rights.
3. DEX Swap Fee — 0.1%
When applied: Applied to currency exchanges via XRPL on-ledger order books
Who pays: User initiating the swap
Example: You hold EUR and want to swap 1,000 EUR for RLUSD. The on-chain order book processes the swap and applies 0.1% of the transaction as a protocol fee. You receive the swap proceeds minus this small fee.
Note: This is a network-level fee for price discovery and liquidity, not a StudioLedger fee. It reflects XRPL's native trading mechanics.
4. MCC Mint Fee — 0.1 RLUSD
When applied: Charged when a Minted Craft Credential is issued
Who pays:
- Work Credentials (Taxon 1): StudioLedger covers the cost. Auto-minted on milestone approval at no cost to the creator.
- Usage Right Licenses (Taxon 2): User pays. Charged when a buyer purchases an asset on the marketplace.
- Membership Access Tokens (Taxon 3): User pays. Charged when issued for ongoing access or loyalty programs.
Example: A creator completes a milestone, the marketplace approves, and the system auto-mints a Work Credential (portfolio proof). No fee to the creator. Later, the creator voluntarily mints a License for a custom template they're selling. They pay 0.1 RLUSD for that token.
Note: This is a blockchain transaction cost to issue an XLS-20 token on XRPL.
5. Arbitration Fee — 5%
When applied: Charged when a community arbitration panel delivers a ruling in a dispute
Who pays: Losing party in the dispute
Example: A creator and marketplace disagree on deliverable quality. The dispute escalates to a 3-person MCC-holder arbitration panel. After review, the panel rules in favor of the marketplace. The creator is charged 5% of the disputed contract amount to cover arbitration costs and incentivize the panel members.
Note: StudioLedger arbitration is a last resort. We encourage direct negotiation first (7-day window) and platform-mediated review second. Arbitration is only invoked if both parties consent or one party escalates after review fails.
XRPL Network Fees
The following fees are not StudioLedger fees — they are protocol-level costs charged by the XRPL network itself:
| Fee Type | Amount | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction Fee | ~0.00001 XRP | Base cost per transaction, set by the network. Typically negligible. |
| Base Reserve | 1 XRP | Required to activate a new XRPL account. One-time cost. |
| Owner Reserve | 0.2 XRP per object | Locked per trust line, escrow, or NFT. Recoverable if object is deleted. |
Why these exist: XRPL charges reserves to prevent spam and ensure network security. StudioLedger does not collect these fees — they go directly to the XRPL network.
Our role: StudioLedger covers base and owner reserves for all platform-managed accounts in Phase 1 to simplify onboarding. Users who bring their own wallet manage their own reserves.

Frequently Asked Questions
When are platform fees deducted?
Escrow and asset fees are deducted at settlement (when the funds are released on-chain). You see the net amount in your wallet.
Can I avoid the fee?
No. The 0.98% fee is applied uniformly to all escrow releases and asset sales. We don't offer discounts, tiered pricing, or fee waivers — radical transparency means everyone pays the same rate.
What if a contract is disputed?
If a dispute is escalated to arbitration and you lose, you pay the 5% arbitration fee. If you win or resolve via direct negotiation, there is no arbitration fee.
Are currency conversion costs included?
No. If you need to convert between currencies (e.g., EUR to RLUSD), you pay the DEX swap fee (0.1%) plus any natural spread in the on-ledger order book. StudioLedger does not mark up currency conversions.
Why does StudioLedger cover the MCC mint fee for Work Credentials?
Because Work Credentials are auto-minted to prove you completed a job. It's a portfolio feature we provide at no cost. If you voluntarily mint a License or Access Pass token, you pay the 0.1 RLUSD mint cost.
Are XRPL network fees included in your fee?
No. XRPL network fees (transaction fees, reserves) are separate. We itemize them here so you understand the full cost of using the blockchain. For Phase 1, StudioLedger covers the base reserve and initial trust line setup to simplify onboarding.
Will fees change for existing contracts?
No. Once an escrow is created, the fee locked at that time is the fee that applies when it's released. Fee changes only apply to new contracts created after the effective date.
What about international tax or currency fees from my bank?
StudioLedger fees are separate from your bank's fees. If you withdraw funds to your bank account, your bank may charge an international wire fee — we don't control that. StudioLedger only charges the fees listed above.
